Kitchen Drawer Organization Day 4: Junk Drawer!

We all have that one drawer we avoid looking at too closely. In this video, I finally decided to empty out my kitchen junk drawer. I dumped the entire contents onto the counter to sort through the chaos. It is a harsh reality check to see exactly what you keep telling yourself you might need.

My honest verdict on organizing these spaces is that fancy modular bamboo dividers are a complete waste of money here. You just need those cheap clear plastic bins from the dollar store. They get scratched up immediately, but nobody is inspecting the aesthetics of a space that holds superglue and spare buttons. I ended up tossing about half of what was in there. The most embarrassing specific detail you will spot in the background of the sorting phase is my collection of takeout condiments. I found soy sauce from a sushi place we have not ordered from since we moved three years ago, plus two loose rubber bands, a single rusty key, and a dried out permanent marker.

This video only got a couple hundred views. I think people prefer watching massive pantry makeovers rather than facing the grim reality of a messy utility drawer. However, the engagement rate was actually quite high for such a small audience. The viewers who did stick around left comments confessing their own hoarding habits. It turns out we are all just hiding dead batteries in the exact same spot.
