I started this video with the most generic hook of my entire career. I literally looked into the lens and asked if you wanted a good summer top. It sounds like a late night infomercial, which completely explains why this only got a few hundred views. My audience took one look at that cheesy opener and kept scrolling.
The irony is that the Dokotoo crochet top I am wearing is actually lovely. I step right up to the camera about five seconds in so you can see the actual weave of the knit. That was the saving grace of the video because it gives you a real sense of the weight. It has a beautiful drape that looks great over denim cutoffs or a simple bathing suit.
My honest verdict is that it works perfectly as a beach piece but requires a little strategy for everyday wear. The yarn has a slightly stiff feel straight out of the package. It softens up completely after one run through the delicate cycle. Also, the open holes in the crochet are spaced out just enough that you need to be deliberate about your undergarments. A plain nude bra blends in fine. A bright neon bralette will absolutely announce itself to the world.
