Editor's notes
I accidentally published this video without typing a single word in the caption box. If you found your way here from a search result, you are probably trying to figure out what you are even looking at. The clip is just thirty seconds of me standing frozen in the laundry room holding a tiny unmatched toddler sock. I am staring off into space while the spin cycle aggressively rattles the entire house.
Because I left the text completely blank, the algorithm decided to hide this from the general public. Barely twelve hundred people actually saw it on their feeds. Social media robots really need us to spell out the joke with text overlays or they refuse to pass our work around. But the engagement from the few people who did watch it was wild. The veteran moms knew exactly what that dead-eyed stare meant. They flooded the comments with their own laundry room confessions.
Watch the shelf above the dryer. You will notice a giant plastic tub of pretzels sitting right next to the stain remover. That is my secret hiding spot for snacks when I need a timeout from parenting. My honest verdict on this whole situation is that you should always double-check your uploads before hitting publish. I lost out on a lot of reach here. I am leaving it up anyway to remind myself that our best unpolished moments still connect with the people who need to see them.
