Welcome to the graveyard of my good intentions. This video was supposed to be a masterclass in styling cotton linen wide leg pants for summer. I wanted to show off the actual construction of these trousers. You see a tight camera shot of the elastic waistband and the front pleats. I thought I was being incredibly artistic by starting headless and panning up to my face.

The pants themselves are surprisingly decent. I fully expected them to feel like a scratchy burlap sack but the material is genuinely soft. They have this reinforced stitching along the inner thigh that usually only shows up on pants triple the price. That is a detail you want when your thighs rub together in a humid July. They drape nicely over a flat sandal. They also refuse to wrinkle the second you sit down in a chair.

My audience completely ignored this clip. We barely broke five hundred views. The analytics showed exactly why. People scrolling do not want to start a video staring at a disembodied torso. I missed that critical window to actually look my viewers in the eye. By the time the camera reached my face at the two second mark, everyone had already swiped away to watch someone else. It is a very good lesson for me. Next time I will make eye contact first and save the textile studies for later.
