Editor's notes
If you stumbled onto this page while searching for ways to survive elementary school carline, welcome to the club. This video is just me standing in the pouring rain during afternoon dismissal. I am holding a violently bright yellow golf umbrella that I bought specifically to keep me dry while opening minivan doors. It absolutely failed. A single gust of wind inverted the entire canopy before the buses even pulled up.
The honest verdict on that giant umbrella is that it belongs in the trash. It essentially turned into a heavy water bowl. If you look closely at the eight-second mark, you can actually see the exact moment a tiny lake forms in the inverted nylon. I shifted my weight a moment later and accidentally dumped half a gallon of freezing rainwater directly onto my favorite white sneakers.
This clip only pulled in about six hundred views. The algorithm definitely ignored my suffering. The people who did interact were incredibly loyal though. The comments came exclusively from fellow educators and tired parents who understand the unique misery of rain duty. We all have a shared, highly specific trauma regarding unpredictable weather and afternoon dismissal. The engagement rate was surprisingly decent just because that niche group knows exactly what it feels like to peel wet socks off at four in the afternoon.
