Make learning fun 🤩 with Easter eggs 🐣 🌼

I posted this right around the time every parent is drowning in cheap plastic eggs. The video just shows me taking a black Sharpie to a handful of them. I wrote an uppercase letter on the top half and the matching lowercase letter on the bottom half. Then I broke them apart so my preschooler could hunt for the pairs and snap them back together. Honestly, it is one of the best phonics activities you can do at your kitchen island. It costs absolutely nothing. You really do not need expensive flashcards to teach basic letter recognition.

If you look closely at the green egg in the video, you will notice I accidentally smeared the ink on the lowercase letter because I did not let the marker dry. Classic rookie mistake. My kids completely ignored the smudge. The engagement rate on this post was actually a very respectable eight percent since parents clearly saved it to try later. The view count was completely dismal though. I started the clip by simply showing the finished eggs sitting on a table. It was a terribly boring opening. People scrolling past just saw a pile of plastic clutter instead of a clever activity in motion.

Next time, I would start the video right at the moment the two halves snap together. That clicking sound is satisfying and grabs attention instantly. Even with the low views, the activity itself is a solid choice for a random Tuesday afternoon. It takes two minutes to prep, and it keeps little hands busy while you finally drink a warm cup of coffee.
