You’re still you—just with a sidekick.
Editor's notes
I recorded this on a random Tuesday when my husband decided our living room was a nightclub. The video just shows him spinning our toddler around the rug to an absurdly loud pop song. I posted it as a direct response to that exhausting internet narrative that having a baby means your fun years are permanently over. You definitely still get to have fun. You just do it in washable fabrics with a significantly earlier bedtime.
My honest verdict on the whole "your life is over" myth is that it is complete nonsense. The late nights out simply relocated indoors. If you look closely at her right hand during the spins, you will notice she is tightly clutching a mangled piece of string cheese. She absolutely refused to put her snack down for the dance party. That right there is the pure reality of parenting. You are trying to build these beautiful core memories while actively negotiating over room-temperature dairy products.
This clip did not go massively viral. It only reached about five hundred people. But the viewers who found it engaged at a twelve percent rate. The algorithm might not have pushed it to the masses, but my actual community felt it. It turns out a lot of us are deeply tired of being told we lost our entire identity the second we had a baby. We just gave that identity a tiny shadow and kept right on dancing.
