Painting on ice!

Editor's notes

You probably landed here because it is three in the afternoon on a rainy Tuesday and your toddler is scaling the curtains. I have been there. This video shows exactly what it sounds like. I froze a shallow layer of water in a plastic storage bin and handed my kid some washable paints along with a few thick brushes. I added big rainbow text right at the start to promise an activity with very low setup time. It really is that simple.

My honest verdict is that it buys you about twenty solid minutes of intense concentration. The ice inevitably melts as they paint. You end up with a puddle of gray slush very quickly. One thing you will notice if you look closely at the video is the layer of old bath towels I strategically shoved under the plastic bin. Do not skip those towels. The condensation builds up underneath the plastic incredibly fast. It will absolutely warp your wood table before you even realize what is happening.

The audience reaction to this one was fascinating. It only got a couple hundred views overall since the algorithm completely buried it. The parents who did find it were heavily invested though. The engagement rate was over twelve percent. They really liked the text overlays that listed out the supplies step by step as I placed them on the table. People appreciate when you just get straight to the point without extra fluff. It is a perfectly fine backup plan to keep in your back pocket for a long afternoon.
