Editor's notes
In this video, my daughter spotted a wrapper with a cartoon on it and tried to logic her way into eating chocolate before nine in the morning. She stood by the kitchen island in her mismatched pajamas to ask if eating the candy would literally turn her into the character on the front. I was holding the camera trying not to laugh at her totally earnest face. The kitchen looks miraculously spotless here. That is entirely an accident of timing, as there is usually a layer of crushed cereal on those counters.
If you look closely at the background, you will notice the childproof locks on the lower cabinets are basically hanging off their hinges. I gave up on fixing them months ago. My verdict on toddler negotiation tactics is that they are exhausting but completely brilliant. You really have to respect the hustle of a kid trying to find a philosophical loophole to get sugar.
This video did not pull huge numbers. It got just under a thousand views and a hook rate that tells me the algorithm basically shrugged at us. The people who engaged were mostly other parents commiserating about morning snack requests. I actually think the clean kitchen in the background distracted from the joke for a lot of people. Viewers were asking where I bought our counter stools instead of listening to my kid scheme for sweets. It is a sweet memory to look back on, even if it did not break the internet.
