Tarte Maneater Mascara

It IS $26. One coat genuinely works, so the tube lasts months.

I have been hunting for a reliable mascara for what feels like a decade. Tarte Maneater popped up on my TikTok Shop for $26. I usually ignore trendy beauty videos. My previous drugstore buys always left me looking like a tired raccoon by lunch, so I was desperate enough to try something new. I decided to order a tube because the brush looked like it might actually grip my stubbornly short lashes. It is honestly the greatest mascara I have ever found.

I put it to the ultimate test during a very long Tuesday. For me, Tuesday means back-to-back meetings, a damp walk from the train, spilling coffee on my desk, and a lot of accidental eye rubbing. Most eye makeup surrenders around two in the afternoon. This formula gave me real length from the morning application and showed zero flaking by 5pm. I checked my reflection in the elevator mirror before heading home. My under-eyes were completely clean.

The formula itself is quite wet when you first open it. You only need a tiny amount on the wand. The brush has hundreds of tiny flexible bristles that comb through clumps before they can dry to your lid. It sets soft rather than crunchy. Taking it off is surprisingly painless. I just use warm water and my standard foaming face wash to dissolve it at night.

This is for anyone who wants obvious definition without messing with glue and false lashes. It is perfect for oily eyelids because it absolutely stays put. You should probably skip this if you prefer a very sheer, barely-there tint. The black pigment is incredibly intense. It gives dramatic volume the second it touches your eye.

My verdict is to go ahead and get it. The obvious caveat is the price. Handing over $26 for a mascara stings a little at checkout. Because one coat genuinely works to build volume, you use barely any product. That means the tube lasts months before drying out. You are not running to the store to replace it every four weeks. I plan to order another tube the minute mine runs dry.
